Our current Queensland Museum displays are: “Gold”,  showcasing mining equipment and specimens; but the real hit is “Life in a Rotten Log”, the centrepiece of creepy crawlies which inspired our new Halloween horror display.

Gabby and Sanna Hellwig, our community volunteers, have been very much appreciated for helping to cover a big batch of literacy    material this term. The new resources are destined for the Special    Education Unit resource collection.

Much Ado about Dragons

Congratulations Sarah Gibson and Katie Oakes won the volunteer’s raffle (drawn by Ms Sliskovic) of two double passes to “Much    Ado About Dragons” at the Tanks, for making recycled paper flowers at    lunchtimes. Thanks to Tropical Arts for providing the tickets as rewards    and a huge thankyou to all volunteer flower designers for your community  service.

Poetry Databases

Our seniors are busy hunting poetry for an English assignment, which is chiefly autobiographical. Some themes are difficult to  find in our print anthologies, but by performing a vertical search of  Google for poetry directories, we located a few online searchable databases  on the deep web. Searching by keyword, some repositories list clumsy unpublished verse, but nevertheless here are a few useful sites to try:
